Pope criticises rise of political nationalism

Vatican City: Pope Leo XIV criticised the surge of nationalist political movements in the world as he prayed Sunday for reconciliation and dialogue. The pope celebrated Sunday Mass in St Peter's Square in front of tens of thousands faithful. “Where there is love, there is no room for security zones separating us from our neighbours,” he said.

2 Indian-Americans win Texas city polls

Houston: Two Indian-Americans have won their respective city council runoff elections in Texas. Sanjay Singhal, an IIT Delhi graduate, secured a decisive victory over fellow Indian-American Nasir Hussain in Sugar Land’s District 2. Sukh Kaur, a Sikh and education reformer, scored a landslide victory in San Antonio to retain her District 1 seat.

Colombian senator shot in head at rally

Bogota: Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe, a potential presidential contender, survived an initial operation for his injuries after being shot in head during a rally in Bogota on Saturday. He remains in intensive care. A boy under 15 was arrested after the shooting.
