India has agreed to consider a proposal by Bhutan seeking an upfront payout of Rs 1,500 crore as part of an “economic stimulus package”.

Discussions on the matter happened during the two-day (July 19-20) visit by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to Bhutan, where he met his counterpart Aum Pema Choden. The two co-chaired the 3rd India-Bhutan Development Cooperation talks. The MEA said “the Indian side agreed to positively consider frontloading the full amount of Rs 1,500 crore for the stimulus package”.
