The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has said it secured exit clearance for an Indian national stranded in Saudi Arabia due to heavy financial liabilities, enabling his return home on Saturday.

Shavej Hamid had been hospitalised for four months in Saudi Arabia following an accident. “Despite facing an exit ban due to substantial dues, the Embassy’s intervention ensured that most of these were waived, and we also facilitated the payment of his government fines,” the embassy said in a post on X.

The mission said it closely coordinated with medical authorities throughout Hamid’s hospitalisation to ensure proper care.
