Dikha’s traditional outfit, slick sunglasses, calm expression and hypnotic moves have made him an overnight global sensation who’s been dubbed the ultimate ‘aura farmer’ by the internet.

Now, his hometown is giving him his flowers.

According to reports by Hindustan Times, the government of Riau named Dika a tourism ambassador last week, celebrating his role in reviving culture among local kids. Governor Abdul Wahid also rewarded the 11-year-old a scholarship worth 20 million rupiah (around $1,200 USD). The official ceremony featured Dikha doing what he does best – dancing, this time alongside the governor himself.

“Wow, I am so happy,” Dika said in Indonesian in the government’s official announcement. “I never imagined I would meet the governor.”

But what exactly made Dika an ‘aura farmer’

Dika has not just danced for fun, he served as a Tukang Tari, or dancer, whose job is to energise the rowers during the Pacu Jalur races. He’s been doing this since he was 9 years old, but this year, his performance resonated globally.
