Iran said on Tuesday it would start enriching uranium to 60% purity, a move that would take the fissile material closer to the 90% suitable for a nuclear weapon, a day after Tehran accused Israel of sabotaging a key nuclear site.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, alongside visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, said the Natanz attack could hurt negotiations over its tattered atomic deal with world powers.

Tehran’s move comes soon before the resumption of talks in Vienna aimed at reviving Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal that US ex-President Donald Trump abandoned three years ago.

The country’s chief nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi also said Iran would introduce 1,000 more centrifuge machines at Natanz. — Agencies
