A Dalai Lama Trust official confirmed that the Dalai Lama is in good health and has not yet given any written instructions regarding his succession.
The official also stated that the Dalai Lama’s successor can be of any gender and that the nationality of the next Dalai Lama will not be restricted to Tibet.

More instructions will be issued when the time comes, he added.
Meanwhile, the head of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile said that the Dalai Lama has been keen to visit Tibet but does not intend to stay there.
He added that the Dalai Lama would be open to visiting Tibet without any preconditions from China, depending on his health. — with Reuters
