Islamabad: Pakistan’s newly elected president Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday announced that he would not draw any salary during his tenure as part of his bid to help the country face the challenging economic hardship. PTI

Military plane with 15 crashes in Russia

Moscow: A Russian military plane with 15 people on board crashed on Tuesday while taking off from an airbase in Ivanovo region. Officials said an engine fire was the likely cause of the crash. They didn’t say if there were any survivors. AP

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
