Belgrade: World No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic’s country, Serbia, has issued a postage stamp in his name, a first for any athlete from the country. Djokovic, who has so far won 20 majors, made history recently by securing the year-end No. 1 ATP ranking for a record seventh time, breaking the tie with American legend Pete Sampras. IANS

China’s oldest person passes away at 135

Beijing: China’s oldest person, Alimihan Seyiti, has died at the age of 135 in Xinjiang Region, local authorities said on Saturday. Seyiti was born on June 25, 1886, according to the county’s publicity department. PTI

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
