Britain’s Prince Harry on Wednesday settled his legal case against Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN), publishers of The Sun newspaper, which offered a rare “full and unequivocal” apology to the now US-based Duke of Sussex and agreed to pay “substantial damages”.

Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, had brought legal action against NGN over allegations of unlawful information gathering by journalists and private investigators between 1996-2011.

NGN had denied any unlawful activity took place at The Sun. “NGN offers a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for the serious intrusion by ‘The Sun’ between 1996 and 2011 into his private life, including incidents of unlawful activities carried out by private investigators working for ‘The Sun’,” states the statement read out in London.
