BJP leaders on streets after Kolkata Police 'unleash fury' on protesters After ‘Nabanna’ protest turned chaotic, BJP called for a 12-hour 'Bengal Bandh' to protest against Mamata govt. The ‘bandh’ was called after police lathi-charged, fired tear gas shells on protestors during the Nabanna protest on August 28. BJP leaders are on the streets and raised slogans against Mamata govt, demanding justice in the RG Kar rape-murder horror. Meanwhile, West Bengal Police detained several BJP leaders as the protest continued on the streets of Kolkata. This came after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, which sparked nationwide outrage.
