Fatehgarh Sahib, February 15

The body of a missing youth was recovered from Bhakra Canal near Reona village. The youth, identified as Shubham Kumar, a resident of Sirhind, was missing from his house since January 29.

In the statement recorded with the police, Arjun Kumar, father of the deceased, said Shubham was suffering from a serious disease since six months and was taking medicines on his own. He added that as the wound worsened, it started bleeding, for which they wanted to get it treated.

On the evening of January 29, Shubham suddenly left on a motorcycle and when he did not return till late at night, a search was carried out and his motorcycle was found on the bank of the Bhakra Canal, near Sanipur village.

On the statement of the family of the deceased, the police have taken action under Section 174 and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
