'May this World Environment Day be a reminder to do our bit' - Rohit Sharma urges fans to take steps towards saving planet Earth

World Environment Day is observed on June 5 to raise awareness and motivate people to take care of the environment and discover efficient remedies to environmental concerns. World Environment Day 2023 marked its 50th anniversary with the hashtag and phrase #BeatPlasticPollution.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, team India skipper Rohit Sharma shared a message for his followers. The star batter urged people to save the environment by reusing, reducing, and recycling. The 36-year-old, who has been quite vocal about environmental issues, took a break from his hectic schedule to remind supporters to do their part for the environment.

On June 5, Monday, Rohit Sharma took to his official Instagram handle and shared a photo of him wearing a white T-shirt with 'End Plastic Waste' printed on it.  

"The theme for this World Environment Day is #BeatPlasticPollution, a cause close to my heart & the need of the hour for our planet Earth. May this World Environment Day be a reminder to do our bit to keep the planet safe by re-using, reducing & recycling," the India skipper captioned the post.

Rohit gears up for ICC World Test Championship final 2023

Rohit Sharma is gearing up for the second edition of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, which will begin on June 7 at The Oval in London. The 36-year-old batter will be looking to lead India to an International Cricket Council (ICC), which will be his first as a skipper if India win it. Notably, he led India to their seventh Asia Cup triumph after defeating Bangladesh in 2018, but he has yet to win an ICC trophy.

Rohit was instrumental in India's 2-1 victory over Australia in the recent Border Gavaskar Trophy at home. In the four-match series, he led India from the front and amassed 242 runs in six innings, including a century at an average of 40.33 and a strike rate of 58.31.
