The Special Task Force (STF), Bathinda, has busted a gang involved in supplying heroin from Shakur Basti in Delhi to Bathinda.
DSP, STF, Gursharan Singh said, “On the directions of SSP Dr Nanak Singh, an STF team was constituted to nab the smugglers involved in supplying drugs from Delhi to Bathinda. The police succeeded in arresting two accused Angrej Singh and Amarjit Kaur of Bir Talab Basti number 3.
The police arrested the duo and seized 260 gram of heroin and a motorcycle from their possession. The Bathinda Sadar police station has registered a case against both the accused under the NDPS Act and started interrogating them.
The DSP said during the interrogation it came out that they used to go to Shakur Basti in Delhi in an auto rickshaw and meet drug suppliers outside the railway station. Suraj, a resident of Bir Talab, used to talk to them on the phone and later through videoconferencing, they were made to talk to the drug suppliers. Even the suppliers were given the information about the persons who order heroin from Bathinda.
It is learnt that besides Suraj Singh, Vicki Singh, Sona alias Sukhchian and Santo, residents of Bir Talab Basti No.2, are involved in this illegal activity. These people used to give money to the accused for getting heroin from Delhi. — TNS
