26 shops, residential house gutted in midnight blaze in J&K’s Banihal

No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident

At least 26 shops and a house were gutted in a midnight devastating fire incident at Khari market in Banihal tehsil, Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday night.

According to the police, the fire broke out in a two-storey complex under mysterious circumstances at Khari market around 11:15 pm. “The fire spread to nearby shops and a residential house. Four fire tenders including three from Banihal and one from Ramban rushed to the spot to douse the fire,” a police official said.

The local officials of fire and emergency services said they started their operation immediately after receiving information and it continued till 7.10 am in the morning on Saturday.

No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.

“The cause of the fire is being ascertained. The loss to local shopkeepers is being assessed,” a police official said.
