A 50-year-old man was allegedly killed by his drug addict son at Mundi Kharar village here late last night. The deceased was attacked with a brick several times till he died.

The deceased has been identified as Hans Raj, a resident of Sainian Wala Mohalla in Mundi Kharar.

The victim’s elder son, Rinku (30), who is a drug addict, used to quarrel with his father for money. Around 9.30 pm, when the victim was at his house, Rinku attacked him with a brick. In the meantime, his younger son Sonu also arrived, but ran away after seeing his brother attacking his father. He later told his neighbours about the incident, who informed the police. Inspector Bhagwant Singh, SHO, Kharar City police station, said the police visited the spot. He said it appeared that the son was demanding money from his father for drugs. He said the victim was brutally attacked on the face.

The police registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Rinku on the basis of the statement recorded by his younger brother.
