The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would announce its chief ministerial candidate before the 2022 Assembly polls, party’s core committee chairman Budh Ram said at a press conference at Circuit House here on Wednesday.
He was accompanied by AAP MLAs Rupinder Kaur Ruby and Baljinder Kaur, Navdeep Singh Jeeda and Neel Garg. Budh Ram said the party’s membership drive which was to end on March 23 had been extended to April 10.
“Under the drive, we will make Kejriwal development model reach every house in the state and try to connect people with the development politics so that like Delhi, politics in Punjab too is based on issues concerning the people,” he said. He said they would present both the ‘Delhi model’ and ‘Punjab model’ before the people to help make a better choice.
Baljinder Kaur said after the historic win in Delhi, AAP had launched a national-level drive to showcase the works done by the party in Delhi. Rupinder Kaur Ruby said several countries and states had adopted the ‘Delhi health and education model’. She said the people had shunned the politics based on religion and caste and wanted the government to prioritise public work.
