Chandigarh: BJP slams Opposition councillors for resigning from committees

BJP leader and party spokesperson Dr Dharinder Tayal has criticised councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress for collectively resigning from committees formed by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor on the Manimajra land auction issue.

He said the councillors were included in the committees precisely to ensure fairness and openness in decision-making. But it has now become clear that they are not interested in transparency — only in creating chaos and halting development, he added.

Even before these resignations, the opposition councillors repeatedly disrupted the House proceedings. The councillors are drawing salaries from public tax money, yet they are abandoning their duties. Public funds cannot be used for arrogance or political theatrics, he added.
