Jalandhar Cantt Congress MLA Pargat Singh launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, accusing him of manufacturing daily events and media content to distract public from Punjab’s core issues. He described the sarcastic and undignified remarks made by the Chief Minister against the Prime Minister and Home Minister as a desperate attempt to deflect from real governance failures.

“The CM must uphold dignity of his office. Making such statements to divert attention from Punjab’s pressing crises is deeply unfortunate,” said Pargat Singh.

He said both the AAP and the BJP were engaged in a superficial blame game, burning each other’s effigies, while neglecting real issues such as law and order, drug abuse, the flawed land pooling policy, sacrilege cases, the SYL dispute, and the National Education Policy.

Pargat Singh stressed on the urgent need for a transparent and accountable legislative debate on these matters. He also reminded that the Assembly session was extended based on verbal assurances to the Congress, with commitments that separate days would be dedicated to address Punjab’s deteriorating law and order and controversial land pooling policy.

AAP and BJP: Two sides of the same coin

Pargat Singh said, “In Punjab, the AAP is giving oxygen to the BJP to help the party gain ground in the state. Meanwhile, in states like Gujarat, where the BJP’s popularity is declining, the AAP is being projected as a substitute Opposition to maintain power within the same ecosystem.”

“This is a national-level political design. AAP and BJP are not rivals, they are two sides of the same coin,” he said. “There is coordinated positioning behind the scenes — their real objective is to keep public focus away from critical governance issues,” he said.

Why is the CM silent?

Pargat Singh questioned the CM’s silence on key national issues that directly impact Punjab, such as the Centre’s National Education Policy and the long-standing Sutlej-Yamuna link water dispute. “Are these not issues concerning Punjab’s youth and farmers? If so, why is the CM avoiding them? He seems more focused on producing social media content and indulging in street-level theatrics than on meaningful governance,” he said.
