Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday said two additional employees would be deployed at every driving test track across the state to assist people in applying for learners and permanent driving licences. He said orders regarding this had already been issued to the State Transport Commissioner, and soon 64 more staff members would be deployed at Punjab’s 32 driving test tracks.

These employees would help citizens to apply for learners and permanent licences strictly at the government-prescribed fee, he said.

During his surprise visit to the driving test track in Phagwara today, the minister interacted with the people who had come there for licence processing and listened to their concerns. He also summoned SDM Jashanjeet Singh and RTO Irvin Kaur to the spot.

While interacting with applicants, the minister said the Punjab Government had fixed a fee of Rs 500 for learner’s licence and Rs 1,385 for permanent driving licence.
