BKU to protest in Yamunanagar over shortage of fertiliser 

The Bharatiya Kisan Union has expressed concern over the shortage of DAP (diammonium phosphate) and urea.

Holding a meeting at Dhaurang village, BKU district president Subhash Gurjar said they would hold a protest at the office of the Agriculture Department in Yamunanagar on July 25. He said they would also block road as farmers of the district were adversely affected due to the shortage of fertilisers.

The farmer leader said protests were being held at a number of places in Haryana over the shortage of DAP and urea.

“There is no DAP and urea in the entire state, including in Yamunanagar district. Therefore, farmers are protesting against the government in Kurukshetra, Pehwa, Hisar and other districts,” said Gurjar.

He said it was a matter of concern that the fertiliser was distributed in police stations and the women were forced to stand in queues to get fertilisers for the past some years.

He further said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and his ministers had lied about the availability of fertilisers from time to time. He alleged that the government was anti-farmer.

“The government wants to keep farmers away from farming. There is no fertilizer at the time of sowing of crops. When the crop goes to the market, the farmer does not get the right price,” said Gurjar.

He urged the government should make arrangements for fertilisers as soon as possible.
