Punjab Governor meets Civil Aviation Minister to discuss enhanced connectivity at Chandigarh Airport

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria met Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi on Friday.

During the meeting, the Governor discussed the need to strengthen both domestic and international air connectivity from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, in view of the growing demand from residents of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the UT Chandigarh.

He highlighted that the Chandigarh airport serves as a crucial gateway for the entire northern region, especially for Punjab and adjoining areas.

Kataria emphasised that direct international flights would significantly benefit the region by boosting tourism, facilitating business travel, and supporting economic growth.

In response, the Union minister assured that the Ministry would actively explore possibilities and work with stakeholders, including airlines and airport operators, to improve connectivity and upgrade passenger facilities at the airport.

The meeting marked a constructive step toward strengthening aviation infrastructure and expanding domestic and global reach from Chandigarh.
