Sounding the poll bugle in Bihar on Friday, BJP’s chief strategist Amit Shah said the RJD and Congress were opposing special intensive revision (SIR) of voter rolls to protect infiltrators, their vote banks.

Addressing a rally after performing the ground breaking ceremony of Punaura Dham temple at Sitamarhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah predicted a clear win for the ruling NDA alliance in the upcoming state polls.

Attacking RJD patriarch Lalu Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for their opposition to the SIR, Shah said the Opposition was worried about losing votes.

“The infiltrators who snatch away jobs from the youth of Bihar are being protected by Lalu and Rahul Gandhi, who are opposing the SIR, which has been conducted many times earlier, but no one opposed it,” said Shah.

“Rahul Gandhi and Lalu are opposing SIR because infiltrators are their vote bank. The people of Bihar will never accept those who take the votes of infiltrators. SIR is absolutely necessary to remove infiltrators from the voters’ list,” the Home Minister stated.

Shah also recalled the times when Lalu Yadav was CM. “Mithilanchal received nothing except hooliganism, kidnapping and extortion,” he said, flagging off the Sitamarhi–Delhi Amrit Bharat train through video-conference.
