The district police has cracked a shooting incident that took place in Chohla Sahib town about one and a half months back by arresting one of the accused, Sohan Singh Sohan, a resident of Chaudhriwala (Naushehra Pannuan). A country-made pistol has been recovered on the basis of information received during his interrogation.
In the incident, two masked motorcycle-borne gangsters had shot and injured two persons, including businessman Gurjinder Singh and a shopkeeper Satnam Singh. The gangsters had demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from Gurjinder Singh but he had refused to oblige.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Goindwal Sahib, Ravisher Singh informed here on Friday that the arrested accused Sohan Singh was a shooter along with Cheema of Patiala. The DSP said that there were six more accused involved, who have been identified as Gurjant Singh Janta, Raj Singh Raja both resident of Jawanda, Karan, a resident of Sabhra, Cheema, a resident of Patiala, Vishal, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan and Gurpreet Singh Gopi Nambardar.
Gurpreet Singh Gopi Nambardar is in Goindwal Sahib Central Jail these days and instructed Sohan Singh from jail to make the victim his target. The DSP said that the six were involved in the crime in one way or the other as Karan provided them with a motorcycle and Cheema accompanied Sohan Singh for the shooting incident. The DSP said that Gurpreet Singh Gopi Nambardar is being brought on production warrant from the jail for interrogation today (Friday).
The DSP said that with the rrest of the accused, more revelations are expected in connection with similar crime incidents in the area.
