Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier announced to start 75 mohalla clinics in the state from August 15. Of these, 11 would be opened in the district, stated officials.

The Health Department has already started the work to convert the sewa kendras at these places into health facilities. Civil Surgeon Dr Charanjit Singh said these clinics would ensure that patients do not have to travel long distance from their homes to avail medical services.

Dr Singh said medical staff for these mohalla clinics would be deputed soon. He said the employees at these centers would treat patients for non-serious ailments and those with serious ailments would be referred to secondary or tertiary care facilities. “All arrangements for the facilities are in place,” said the Civil Surgeon.
