Amritsar, January 20

By the end of January, all 19 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations would be functional in the city. Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, who is also the CEO of Amritsar Smart City Limited, held a review meeting on EV stations and implementation of Rejuvenation of Auto-Rickshaws in Amritsar through Holistic Intervention (RAAHI) project. Ajoy Sharma, Principal Secretary, Local Government, was also present through video-conferencing to review the progress of the project.

The meeting was attended by Joint Municipal Commissioner and RAAHI project in-charge Hardeep Singh and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Arshdeep Singh Lubana. In the meeting, Thori informed that EV charging stations were being installed at 19 places in the city.

The DC claimed that it would be a big boost for people who want to own e-autos. He said more sites would be allocated to install EV charging stations in several parts of the city. These EV charging stations would benefit not only e-auto drivers, but also two-wheeler and four-wheeler electric vehicles.

“RAAHI project is the best scheme to protect the environment of the city and to make it clean and pollution-free,” said Thori.
