2 die in road mishaps near Vallah

Two persons died in road mishaps here on Friday. The deceased were identified as Kirpal Singh of Vallah and Ranjit Singh of the Bhutanwala area in Dhapai locality. Two seperate FIRs were registered at Vallah and at the Cantonment police station here.

As per information, Kirpal Singh lost his life while his elder brother Harpreet Singh was critically injured when their truck collided head on with another truck coming from wrong side near Vallah in the morning hours today. They were going to Amritsar after loading iron bars at Gobindgarh. Harpreet was driving the truck while Kirpal was sitting beside him.

After the collision, victims’ got stuck in their truck (bearing registration number Pb-02-BY-9757). Onlookers pulled them out after cutting the body of the truck. Kirpal had died by the time he was pulled out of the truck while Harpreet lost both his legs. The driver of the truck (bearing registration number RJ-07-GF-2320) fled from the spot.

Harparkash Singh, SHO, Maqboolpura police station, said a case was registered against driver of the truck, which collided with victims vehicle and further probe initiated into the matter.

In another road mishap, Ranjit Singh of Bhutanpura was run over by a truck while his father Ramesh was injured on Loharka Road.

According to information, Ranjit and his father Ramesh were going to their plot when their bike’s handle got stuck in a tyre of the truck. They fell on the road and Ranjit was run over by the truck while Ramesh got injured. The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident. Pargat Singh, investigating officer, said the police had impounded the truck.
