A team of the Khalra police led by the SHO, Inspector Paramjit Singh, while on patrol arrested two persons and seized 658 intoxicating tablets from them at Wan Tara Singh village here on Wednesday. The SHO said the accused have been identified as Ajaypal Singh, a resident of Rajoke village and Jugraj Singh, a resident of Kalsian village. A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused, said the SHO. The accused have already been booked for different crimes.

MC seizes nine Two-wheelers

Amritsar: The estate wing of the municipal corporation cracked the whip against illegal parking near Jallianwala Bagh here on Thursday. Nine two-wheelers parked at an unauthorised stand were seized during the operation. Estate Officer Dharminderjeet Singh stated an illegal parking stand was being operated by the roadside near Jallianwala Bagh at Bagh Ramanand area. He added prior warnings had been issued to those running the unauthorised parking stand. Despite repeated notices, the illegal parking stand continued to operate. On the directives of MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, action has been taken and nine two-wheelers were seized from the location.

Institute director honoured

Tarn Taran: Dr Jatinderpal Singh Randhawa, managing director of Guru Amar Dass Adarsh Institute, Goindwal Sahib, has been honoured with the National Education Award. The ceremony was organised at Dharam Singh Auditorium in Amritsar by the “Aradhya Ek Ehsaas Foundation”. Arvind Meena, Assistant Commissioner of Police, North sub-division, Amritsar, was the chief guest. It may be mentioned that Dr Jatinderpal Singh Randhawa has received the award for his work in the field of education, bringing about positive changes in educational strategies. It is also worth mentioning here that the award has been dedicated to educators with transformational leadership and visionary thinking. Expressing joy on the occasion, principal of the school, Manisha Sood, teachers, students and the staff congratulated Dr Randhawa.
