Two snatching incidents were reported from the city on Friday.

Chheharta resident Manpreet Singh was looted by armed robbers when he was returning home.

The incident occurred in Partap Mill Colony on main GT Road. The victim stated to the police that two motorcycle-borne youth stopped him on gun point and snatched his expensive iPhone mobile besides taking out his wallet containing Rs 10,000 and important documents. He said the accused threw keys of his bike far away so that he could not chase them.

Meanwhile, another local resident Anil Kumar said that he along with his wife was going from SSSS Chowk to Novelty Chowk on his scooter, when two bikers snatched purse of his wife. It contained Rs 6,000, two mobile phones and other important documents. The accused fled away from the spot.

The police registered two cases in this connection while there was no breakthrough so far.

Meanwhile, the Verka police claimed to have nabbed a snatcher identified as Gursandeep Singh of Malluwal village. The police recovered a motorcycle and a snatched mobile from his possession.

The police also nabbed an alleged drug peddler who used to sell the contraband near railway lines in Verka. The police took preventive action under Section 110 of the CrPC against him.

Youth loses Iphone to robbers
