200 lecturers attend capacity-building workshop

The Education Department organised a two-day capacity-building programme for lecturers from seven districts at the polytechnic college here. The workshop, specifically designed for lecturers from Schools of Eminence (SOE) and Meritorious Schools, focused on introducing teachers to new methodologies and updated teaching pedagogies for specific subjects, including maths, science, English and Punjabi.

DEO Kanwaljeet Singh said the project had been started by the Education Department to provide modern and quality education to the state’s students and to introduce them to world-class modern facilities.

Nearly 200 lecturers of science and mathematics from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala took part in the programme.

Kanwaljit Singh said, “The training programme, organised in collaboration with NGO Mantra and Avanti Fellows was formally inaugurated by Balwinder Kaur, Assistant Director, Education Department, Punjab for School of Eminence.”

Balwinder said to provide world-class modern facilities and an education that was at par with international standard to the students, 118 Schools of Eminence and 10 meritorious schools were established in the state.

“The students of the state have been 50 per cent more successful in JEE and NEET exams this year as compared to last year, which is a symbol of a major increase in the quality of education. From time to time, education experts will make teachers aware of modern techniques through such programmes,” she said.
