The city police have recovered over 2kg of heroin apart from Rs 5 lakh drug money in three separate incidents here today. The Airport police confiscated 1kg heroin and arrested a drug trafficker in this connection while another 1kg of contraband was seized by the Chheharta police during investigations into trans-border drug trafficking case.
Similarly, the CIA staff-3 recovered 80gm of heroin apart from Rs 5 lakh drug money and a pistol from two persons having previous criminal record.
Sharing details, Police Commissioner (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the Airport police arrested Dilpreet Singh, alias Honey, of Amrit Colony in the Rajasansi area, and seized 1kg of heroin from his possession. He was arrested near Ekam Dhaba located on the Ajnala road. He was produced in a court and brought on police remand for further interrogation to establish their backward and forward links, the CP said.
Similarly, the CIA Staff-3 led by Inspector Binderjit Singh arrested Gautam Soni, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura in Verka, and Shubham Kumar, alias Subi, a resident of Lahori Gate, presently living in a rented accommodation at Indira Colony. The police seized 80gm of heroin, a pistol of .32 bore calibre and Rs 5.02 lakh drug money from them. They were arrested from the Fatahpur area.
The CP said Gautam Soni had criminal cases, including of murder, rape and POCSO Act, registered against him, while Shubham had an Arms Act case registered against him. A fresh case of the NDPS Act and Arms Act was registered against the duo at the Islamabad police station here in this connection.
In the third incident, the Chheharta police have recovered 1kg of contraband during the interrogation of the members of the trans-border drug cartel busted by the police recently. The seizure was made during the interrogation of the cartel kingpin Manjit Singh, alias Bhola, a resident of the Rajasansi area.
Earlier, the police seized 2.192kg of heroin, along with three pistols and Rs 2.60 lakh drug money, besides an SUV and a bike from the cartel members. An Anganwadi worker was among the 12 persons arrested by the police in the case.
