3 arrested in Amritsar for 'smuggling' Glock pistols from Pakistan
Police say accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through WhatsApp and other social media platforms
The Special Cell of Amritsar rural police have arrested three men and recovered two Glock pistols along with four mobile phones, officials said on Monday.
The accused — Aprildeep Singh alias Babbu, Gurlal Singh alias Pannu, and Balraj Singh — are residents of Rajoke border village.
DSP Gurinderpal Singh Nagra said that preliminary investigations suggest the weapons were smuggled from Pakistan via drones. “The accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through WhatsApp and other social media platforms,” he added.
The police sent the mobile phones for forensic examination to trace backward and forward linkages.
The trio will be produced in court, and further recoveries are likely during their interrogation, officials said.
