3 die, 3 hurt in road mishaps

Three persons died while three others were injured in two road accidents on Thursday in the district. The deceased were identified as Manjit Singh (45) and Sukhdev Singh (55) of Ghurkwind village and Jugraj Singh (19) of Wara Telian village (Valtoha). The injured were identified as Sona Singh son of Suba Singh, Sona Singh son of Wassan Singh and Lakhwinder Singh, all of Ghurkwind village.

All the deceased and the injured, except Jugraj Singh, worked as mansion. They were returning home from Khadoor Sahib on two motorcycles when a car coming from the opposite direction collided with their two-wheelers near Shahbazpur village. Manjit Singh died on the spot. Other victims were rushed to local civil hospital where doctors referred them to Guru Nanak Hospital in Amritsar. Sukhdev succumbed to injuries while on way to the hospital. The condition of the remaining three victims was stated to be critical.

The Sadar police said unidentified car driver managed to escape from spot leaving behind his vehicle.In the second incident, Jugraj Singh died on the Bler road near Bhikhiwind. He was going to his Wara Telian village on a motorcycle when a car coming from behind hit his two-wheeler. The victim was rushed to local civil hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
