31 cellphones seized from Amritsar Central Jail

In yet another seizure, Amritsar Central Jail staff have confiscated as many as 31 mobile phones, including seven touch mobile phones and 24 keypad phones from the high-security jail complex here.

The police have booked nine jail inmates under different provisions of the Prisons Act against them. However, jail staff said the seizure was made recently.

On the complaint of Assistant Jail Superintendent Ajmer Singh, the police booked Jaspreet Singh of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Nishan Singh of Pandorav village, Kohinoor Singh of Khairabad village, Sone Lal of Shastri Nagar, Pathankot, Ravi Singh of Pandori Waraich, Bahadar Singh of Manjh Singh Road, Sunny of Kohali village, Biramjit Singh of Kotla Tarkhana and Rahul of Gawal Mandi here.
