Annual convocation ceremony of Saroop Rani Government College for Women was hosted today. Principal Daljit Kaur welcomed chief guest Harpreet Singh Sudan, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, and Dr Amandeep Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development), Amritsar, who is also distinguished alumnus of the college.
Principal Daljit Kaur presented the annual report to highlight the academic and sports excellence of the college through the year.
The report emphasised upon the transparent admission procedure, various courses offered in the college, academic merit positions and other achievements of students in various cultural and creative activities. Prizes and role of honours were awarded to distinguished students of the college. A total of 363 students were awarded for various college and university positions. Navreen Kaur of BA (semester VI) was declared best scholar (UG), Tanu of MA geography (semester IV) as best scholar (PG). Pawandeep Kaur of BA (semester VI) was declared as best athlete, Manpreet Kaur of BSc (clinical nutrition and dietetics, semester VI) as best speaker. College head girl Kritika Yadav was overall best student of the college.
Harpreet Singh appreciated the achievements of college and motivated girl students to work towards bigger goals, aim for higher posts and serve their country. He expressed hope for a better future, especially from girls.
