Two gangsters were injured in an encounter with police in Mand area here on Tuesday night.
The injured gangsters who have been admitted to the local civil hospital have been identified as Yadwinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh, both 32 years old and residents of Ruriwala village in Tarn Taran.
They are part of the Landa Harike gang.
SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the Chohla Sahib police received information about the movement of the gangsters in the Mand area. The police party was chasing them when the three gangsters fired at the police party led by Chohla Sahib SHO Raj Kumar, and in retaliation, two gangsters, Yadwinder and Kuldeep, received gun shots and were arrested.
Another gangster, Prabhdip Singh of Dhunn Dhai wala village, was also arrested from the spot.
“According to the investigation, the gangsters used a pistol belonging to ASI Pawandeep Singh posted at Chohla Sahib police station as munshi. He was a drug addict and had given his service revolver to the gangsters in lieu of drugs. The ASI was also arrested," said the SSP.
