4 hurt in crossfire in Tarn Taran village

Four persons of two groups were injured in crossfire at the border village of Kalsian Khurd here on Friday. The alleged usurpation of the village gurdwara land was being cited as the reason behind the firing.

Jaimal Singh, sarpanch of the village, and his son Harpal Singh were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Patti, while two injured persons of the other group were identified as Balwinder Singh and his son Shamsher Singh who were admitted to the Community Health Centre, in Ghariala.

Jaimal Singh in his complaint to the Khalra police stated that the accused led by Balwinder Singh and his supporters started indiscriminate firing at his house on Friday night.

Jaimal said there was a land dispute over the village gurdwara land, which was the bone of contention. The land was allegedly under the control of Balwinder Singh and his supporters. The sarpanch said he had been pressurizing him to vacate the land.

Balwinder Singh, his two sons Shamsher Singh and Gurchet Singh and his supporters Pargat Singh and Gurjit Singh along with 20 other unidentified associates came near his residence and started firing at his house
