The district police in a joint operation with the BSF seized 4.122 kg of heroin, one China- made pistol, 25 cartridges with two magazines and 52 gm of opium on Wednesday.

SSP Dhruv Dahiya said a team of the district police led by Inspector Baljit Singh of the Narcotic Cell and DSP Rajesh Telu Ram of the BSF launched an operation in this regard. The SSP said the heroin and other consignment were buried under the earth in fields of Kisan Satnam Singh and his brother Dilbag Singh. He said the consignment was buried 50 feet deep under the earth towards the Indian side from zero line. He said it was the handiwork of Indian smugglers with the connivance of their counterparts across the border. The SSP said a case under Sections 18, 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Khemkaran police station.
