Amritsar, February 19
Two inmates were injured after two groups of prisoners clashed inside the Amritsar Central Jail complex on Friday. The jail authorities lodged a complaint with the Islamabad police station which registered a cross case against five persons of both groups. They were identified as Davinder Singh of Aliwal village in Ajnala, Bikram Masih alias Bikar of Panchhian village, Bimrjamjit Singh alias Vicky of Kot Hirde Ram,village, Sikander of Sandhu Colony, Batala road and Kuljit Singh of Kot Hirde Ram village.
Sucha Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail, said Davinder Singh and Bikiram Masih quarrelled with other three inmates in room number 2 of barrack number 6. The staff members immediately reached the spot and got them separated.
The police said a case under Section 52 of Prisons Act has been registered against them.
Meanwhile, on Thursday the central jail authorities confiscated as many as nine mobile phones besides 10-gm opium from six inmates lodged in the jail premises.
Those booked for having mobile phones included Sahil of Kirpal Colony, Raman Chaudhry of Mahan Singh gate, Jarjaab Singh of Alamgir Kala Sanghian village, Parsem Singh aka Shera of Amarkot village, Subheg Singh of Malah village and Gurpreet Singh alias Nikka of Murabbe Wali Gali on Tarn Taran Road.
A case under Sections 18-A/61/85 of the NDPS Act and Sections 42, 52-A of Prison Act was registered in this regard.
