Panic gripped the Hathi Gate area when a shoe shop owner was found murdered, his hands and legs tied, with injury marks on his body.

The police suspect that victim Yashpal (51) was murdered and have launched a probe.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaspal Singh said police are investigating various angles. “Yashpal was apparently murdered, and we are ascertaining the motive,” he added, noting that the probe is at an initial stage.

Yashpal lived alone on the upper floor of his shop, while his family resided in the Islamabad area. He slept there alone. Today, people found the shop shutter half-open and his body lying with hands and legs tied, plus marks of thrashing. They informed the family and police, who discovered he had been killed.
