6 associates of US-based gangster Dasuwal nabbed
The police have arrested six associates of US-based gangster Prabh Dasuwal and seized a pistol along with six bullets and a scooter from them.
Those arrested have been identified as Rohit of Dashmesh Colony, Attari Road, Sukhraj Singh, alias Gunga, of Thakkarpura village, Tarn Taran, and Jugraj Singh, alias Nikka, of Valtoha, Tarn Taran, Arshdeep Singh, alias Vicky, of Maradi Kalan village, Princedeep Singh of Sri Hargobindpur (Gurdaspur) and Anmol Singh, Patti Road in Bhikhiwind, Tarn Taran.
They had conducted the recee of Rajwinder Singh Talwandi, a sarpanch, who was shot by armed assailants in Tarn Taran. They were in contact with Dasuwal through a social media app. Meanwhile, the police had arrested three more snatchers.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alam Vijay Singh said: "Rohit, Sukhraj and Jugraj used to conduct recee of their targets besides giving logistic support, including supplying illegal weapons, to the criminal elements for executing the task. Investigations revealed that Sukhraj had tipped Dasuwal off the location of Talwandi who was gunned down in Patti area in Tarn Taran during panchayat elections in October last year when he was travelling in his car along with his supporters,” said the DCP. They have recently did recee of a prominent man in the Tarn Taran area, he added.
Sharing details, he said on January 5, three bike-borne persons snatched a scooter from a local resident Sachdeep Singh of Greenfield area at gunpoint when he was returning from the Golden Temple after paying obeisance.
A case was registered with Sadar police station in this connection. During investigations, the police arrested Arshdeep Singh and Princedeep Singh four days ago. Later, the police arrested their third accomplice Anmol Singh two days ago. The police recovered the snatched scooter on their discloser.
His interrogation revealed that he had handed over the pistol used in the crime to Jugraj Singh. This further led to the arrest of Jugraj, Rohit and Sukhraj from Fatehgarh Churian road bypass here.
