Six persons were injured during a clash that took place between two groups at Padhari Kalan village here on Thursday on the occasion of gram sabha rabi session. More than 15 persons received minor injuries in the quarrel who were administered first aid.
The clash took place between members of the Congress sarpanch Rachhpal Kaur group and the AAP leader Salwinder Singh (of the village) group.
Clashed over utilisation of development grants

- They pelted each other with bricks, used baseball bats and other traditional weapons injuring six persons — four of the sarpanch group and two of the opposite side
The injured of the sarpanch’s group were identified as Rachhpal Kaur’s husband Dilbag Singh, Mangal Singh and Surjit Singh, Paramjit Kaur and her other relatives. Salwinder Singh and his nephew Dilbag Singh, son of Narwinder Singh (brother of Salwinder Singh), all of the second group, were among those injured in the incident.
Sarpanch Rachhpal Kaur was chairing the session, which was being supervised by Harpreet Singh, secretary of the panchayat.
The police said the gram sabha meeting was held at Government Senior Secondary School of the village when both the groups broke into a clash over the issue of utilization of grants released for the development of the village by the previous Congress government.
They pelted each other with bricks, used baseball bats and other weapons injuring six persons — four of the sarpanch group and two of the opposite side. On receiving the information, a police party from Jhabal reached the spot.
All the injured were admitted to the Community Health Centre at Jhabal. Keeping in view the serious condition of Dilbag Singh, he was referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar. He got a fracture in the left leg and injuries on the right leg.
Inspector Prabhjit Singh, SHO, Jhabal, said on the statement of Narwinder Singh (brother of Salwinder Singh), village Sarpanch Rachhpal Kaur, her husband Dilbag Singh, Rashpal Singh, Baldev Singh, Bakhshish Singh (brothers of Dilbag Singh) were among 21, all of the sarpanch Rachhpal Kaur group, who were booked under Sections 323, 427, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
The SHO said the medico legal reports (MLRs) of the injured from the other side were yet to be received by the police and after the reports, further proceedings would be initiated by the police.
