Amritsar: The Sadar police have nabbed three persons for allegedly possessing drugs and illegal arms. They were identified as Chainchal Singh Athwal, alias Kala, of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Akashdeep Singh, alias Akash (alias Kashi), of Adliwal village now Jujhar Singh Avenue and Shamsher Singh, alias Daani (alias Shera), of Meera Kot Kalan village. Police authorities said during checking cops recovered 70-gm heroin, a .32 bore revolver along with two bullets and a motorcycle. A case under the NDPS, Arms Act and under different sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered against them. Earlier, the police had nabbed four persons with around 100-gm heroin. They were identified as Sawan Kumar of Ekta Nagar, Satnam Singh of Prem Nagar, Navkaran Singh of Pandori Waraich village and Rajat Kumar of New Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar. They were travelling in a car when the police intercepted them near Saini Chowk on April 9. Abhimanyu Rana, SHO, Sadar police station, said some of the arrested persons had criminal record and wanted in murder bid cases. Youth killed by brother-in-law
Tarn Taran: Sukhchain Singh (22) of Mehndipur village was murdered by his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) at Asal Uttar village, 45 km from here, on Saturday night. The suspect, Harmesh Singh, has been booked under Section 302 of the IPC by the Valtoha police. According to the police, deceased Sukhchain, along with his father Chhabba Singh, had gone to see his sister and her husband, Harmesh Singh. Harmesh used objectionable words for his wife, to which Sukhchain objected. They entered into a fight and Harmesh attacked Sukhchain with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his death.
