The victim, identified as Iqbal Singh, has been admitted to a hospital in Amritsar where his condition is stated to be out of danger. The police said two of the suspects had been identified as Lovejit Singh and Bobby, both residents of Cheema Khurd village, and the rest were yet to be identified.

According to the police, Lovejit was married to Rajbir, daughter of Iqbal Singh, about two years ago. Due to some differences with her husband, Rajbir had been living with her parents for the past seven months. The police said Lovejit, along with his armed associates, barged into his in-laws’ house and fired at his father-in-law. The suspects also broke household items.

A case has been registered against the suspects in this regard. — OC
