After the convincing victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election, AAP leaders celebrated it along with volunteers and party workers here on Saturday. The AAP-led state government’s Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal along with local MLAs Dr Ajay Gupta, Dr Jasbir Singh and others reached the party office in the district and distributed sweets and danced to dhol beats.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated the leaders and workers of the party through his X account, saying, “The landslide victory shows that the people of Punjab are happy with the functioning of our government. As per the promise we made, we will make Jalandhar West ‘the best’. Congratulations to Mohinder Bhagatji!”

Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal said the people of Punjab are with the Aam Aadmi Party. “People are supporting the policies of our government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh. The Aam Aadmi Party works for the welfare of the people. That is why, the people of Jalandhar West have given us the gift of such a huge victory.”

AAP’s Jalandhar West candidate Mohinder Bhagat today won the bypoll by 37,325 votes, defeating his nearest rival and BJP candidate Sheetal Angural, whose defection from AAP necessitated the bypoll.

The AAP party workers played dhol beats and distributed sweets and also raised slogans in support of AAP and CM Bhagwant Mann, terming this victory as a signal from people of Punjab to the BJP and the Congress.
