Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal has launched Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) 2020-21 document prepared by NABARD for a total outlay Rs 13,207 Crore for Amritsar district. The PLP was launched during the District Consultative Committee in Amritsar. This PLP document covers the potential credit areas under the priority sector. The PLP outlay has been increased by approximately 00.70% from last year potential.

Laying stress on quality lending to farmers under modern farming practices so as to boost the development of district, he said the bankers were guided to focus on the MSME sector as it played a crucial role in welfare of the district.

NABARD District Development Manager Jaskirat Singh informed that agriculture credit should increase under investment credit so that capital formation in the agriculture sector can take place. “The theme for the year 2020-21 is ‘Hi-Tech Agriculture’ so as to improve farm economy by adopting modern farming techniques,” he said.

Taking into account the above factors, the total projections of the PLP for the year 2019-20 have been estimated at Rs 13,207 crore inclusive of Rs 4,826 crore for Crop Loan, Rs 667 crore for Term Loan for agriculture allied, Rs 521 crore for agriculture infrastructure, Rs 608 crore for agriculture ancillary activities, Rs 3,402 crore for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Rs 1003 crore for export credit, Rs 522 crore for education, Rs 1,465 crore for housing, Rs 32 crore for renewable energy, Rs 80 crore for others (SHG/JLG/Small Loans) and Rs 77 crore for social infrastructure, indicating a growth of 0.70 per cent over PLP 2019-20 projections.
