Amritsar: The Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union (PCCTU) on Sunday held an emergency meeting here to strategise next course of action in support of their demands. In the inaugural session, Dr Rajesh Kumar, Principal, DAV College, addressed the house and appraised the working of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union. He shared various issues of the government-aided colleges like fall in student strength of colleges, policy of the university regarding admission of students in the undergraduate courses in the university campus and its constituent colleges. It also chalked out further strategies against alleged callous attitude of the government regarding just and genuine demands of teaching fraternity working in various colleges of the state. At the meeting, salary issue related to Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali, was discussed and members unanimously decided to extend their full support to the Sarhali unit. TNS
