Tarn Taran, March 1

The Health Department organised a ‘Chetna Rally’ to make people aware about the three-day pulse polio drive to immunise kids in the age-group of 0-5 years, starting from March 3 in the district. Dr Kamalpal Sidhu, Civil Surgeon, who flagged off the rally from his office to the town, said that though India has been free from the polio disease, it is the duty of people to maintain the status. A lapse may well prove dear to us, he said.

Dr Kamalpal Sidhu said that a total of 1,45,747 kids are to be immunised against polio for which 2,498 teams have been formed and 117 supervisors will conduct checks. The Civil Surgeon instructed the senior medical officials to make sure that no kid is left out.

Dr Varinderpal Kaur, District Immunisation Officer, Dr Devi Bala, Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr Ashish Gupta, District Family Welfare Officer, Dr Sukhbir Kaur, District Health Officer, and other officials of the department were present in the rally.
