Ahead of Chandigarh protest, 25 farmers detained in Tarn Taran
The Tarn Taran police on Tuesday arrested 25 farmers who were planning to disturb the normal functioning of the government during their protest slated for March 5 in Chandigarh. SSP Abhimanyu Rana said here that the farmers have been booked under Sections of 107 and 151 of the BNSS Act by the police.
Meanwhile, the farmer organizations associated with the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) organized protests and burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Nachhattar Singh Pannu, district president of the Kirti Kisan Union, said that the farmers launched a protest over Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leaving the meeting mid-way. It was being held with the representatives of different farmer organizations in Chandigarh on Monday.
Nachhattar Singh said the police arrested leaders of farmers from different places. The arrested farmers were identified as Sukhdev Singh Sarhali, Sukhchain Singh, Balkar Singh Jandoke, Balwant Singh Khehra, Satpal Singh Nathoke, Daljit Singh Dialpura, Mukhtiar Singh Mallha, Resham Singh failoke, Harbhajan Singh Patti, Ajaib Singh Aladinpur, Kuldeep Singh, Captain Singh Baghiari, Jasbir Singh Pannu and others.
The farmers in their protests held in front of different police stations demanded early release of the arrested farmers.
