Ahead of Independence Day, police seize IED in Tarn Taran

Ahead of Independence day celebrations, the police today foiled a major terror plot at the behest of Pakistan-based terror organisation Babbar Khalsa International and recovered an improvised explosive device (IED).

“In an intelligence-led operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, successfully foiled a major terror plot orchestrated by Pakistan based BKI operative Harwinder Rinda and Terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa backed by Pakistan’s ISI,” said DGP Gaurav Yadav on X.

The DGP said AGTF, along with Tarn Taran Police, carried out a search operation and recovered an IED in Tarn Taran border district before it could reach Rinda’s associates. It was carefully transported to a secure place for controlled detonation.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called to scene to diffuse it. An FIR has been registered under the Explosives Act at Sirhali police station in this regard.
