Akal Takht summons Guru Nanak Dev University V-C over remarks during event in Kochi
Days after a controversy erupted over a purported video of Guru Nanak Dev University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Karamjit Singh allegedly linking Guru Nanak Dev's philosophy with “Vedanta” in the presence of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, the Akal Takht's officiating Jathedar has asked the former to submit his clarification within 15 days after personally appearing before Sikh's temporal seat.
Several complaints were lodged before the Akal Takht in this regard.
Earlier, he was removed by the SGPC from the panel constituted to frame rules for the appointment of the Akal Takht Jathedar over the controversy.
The V-C had, however, refuted the charges while alleging that some portions of the video were deliberately removed to send out a distorted message.
Bagicha Singh, incharge, Akal Takht Secretariat, while issuing the order pointed out that recently, several complaints were recieved by the Akal Takht regarding Sikh sentiments being hurt by the Vice-Chancellor during a programme in Kochi.
"After going through the complaints, officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj has asked the V-C to clarify his stance within 15 days after personally appearing before the Akal Takht,” he said.
